Phone call with Nigel Hinton from Shrewsbury Drapers:
Nigel is part of the current Drapers Guild and author of a great history of the Guild and has agreed to do some intensive research on the logistics and approaches that were developed by the Drapers Guild’s to create highly lucrative systems to buy, assure quality control and add value to the cloth by “finishing”. Then to see what he can find about the transportation of “Welsh Plains to the London markets and the decline of the Drapers Guild in the 1700s.
Nigel will also write an article to present his findings, with references and this will be a useful model for others to use to present their findings.
